Joining

There are just three conditions to you joining BGSBC:

· You must be able to swim

· You need to attend one of the capsise drill sessions  (in the School Pool), especially if you are going out in a single or double

· You must be a member of Bradford Grammar School (Senior School)

You can row in Games lessons, Wednesday afternoons (2nd years and above), or on a Saturday morning.
There is an open Saturday training session in the first few weeks of the school year ("Invitation to Rowing") so that pupils new to Senior School can try rowing.

Safety

As a recognised school activity, the club follows the safety measures set out by the school and its Safety Advisor.
BGSBC is a member of British Rowing (previously called the Amateur Rowing Association), and is also bound by their safety code as descibed on their website: www.britishrowing.org

In accordance with British Rowing rules, crews are only allowed to train on the water under the supervision of a qualified  coach, and as a school activity there must be supervision from a member of staff. Therefore, training supervision is always by someone with first aid qualifications, with a strong rowing background.

All races we enter are run under British Rowing rules, and therefore have a detailed safety plan drawn up prior to the event to ensure prompt rescue of anyone who requires it (due to capsize or otherwise). In addition, they have trained first-aiders at the venue.

How to get there
