As
a recognised school activity, the club follows the safety measures set
out by the school and its Safety Advisor.
BGSBC is a member of British Rowing (previously called the Amateur Rowing Association), and is also bound
by their safety code as descibed on their website: www.britishrowing.org
In
accordance with British Rowing rules, crews are only allowed to train on the water
under the supervision of a qualified coach, and as
a school activity there must
be supervision from a member of staff. Therefore, training supervision is always by someone with first aid
qualifications, with a strong rowing background.
All
races we enter are run under British Rowing rules, and therefore have a detailed
safety plan drawn up prior to the event to ensure prompt rescue of
anyone who requires it (due to capsize or otherwise). In addition, they
have trained first-aiders at the venue.
