Training
The majority of our water based training is undertaken on the River Aire at the Boathouse by Hirst Weir. If you are lucky you can also go on runs from there.... There are occasional venues to York and other locations for additional training.  The Training album in the Photo Gallery will give a good idea of our short but intersting and picturesque stretch of river.

Don't forget to bring a change of clothes and a towel to each training session - just in case!

Other training is organised at school, making use of the Gyms and Swimming Pool (for capsize drill etc).

How to get there: go to the 'About' tab

Schedules
Out-of-the-ordinary events are listed on the home page. The weekend training schedules are listed on the calender on the racing page and it is important to keep an eye on that page. (Check when the details for a given session were last modified as an indication as to how reliable you can take the display to be. All said, we have no control over the state of the river (which is down to the weather both locally and regionally).

Bring a change of clothes and a towel to each training session - just in case!!

The coach to the river on Wednesday afternoons leaves the turning circle at 13:00 prompt - don't get left behind!

Training Diary
See diary for Saturday training details - last minute changes will be posted on the home page.
Generally 4th year and above start by 9am and 1st -  3rd years at 10.30am.

A note from Julia Markham:

'Hello everyone,

Due to the unfortunate weather of late I have not had the opportunity to meet many of the BGSBC parents so I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Julia Markham and I am the new Assistant Rowing Coach at BGS, you may have seen me at the river during a few Saturday sessions before Christmas. In addition to my new role at BGS I work as a self-employed personal trainer, and Community Sports Coach (Rowing) for Bradford MDC. I am a member at BARC next door and have rowed and coached there for a number of years.

In addition to coaching water sessions, the plan is that I will run some lunchtime and after school land training sessions. Currently the only time we can find a suitable training location at the school is a Thursday after school from 4 - 5pm. At the moment I am running this as a core stability session. Core stability is about strengthening the deep abdominal muscles and the muscles around the spine, all of which help with posture and balance. Two things which are essential for rowers. The Thursday session is open to first years through to sixth formers. We meet at the Junior Gym at 4pm and train either there or in the Senior Gym. This session will run up until Easter and hopefully beyond. I am hopeful that during the Summer term other facilities will become available so we can run some lunchtime sessions too.

The Monday after school circuit sessions with Miss Cole will continue as normal. The Junior Gym remains available for use each lunchtime and after school, members are encouraged to use this facility in their own time for sessions on the rowing machines and weights.

Looking forward to meeting more of you soon,

Julia.'
